XOLO X1000 Launched

XOLO, a "premium smartphone" brand by budget handset maker LAVA Mobile, credited with launching the first smartphone running an Intel processor, the X900, launched its next flagship handset, the X1000. The Indian company has began shipping the handset through retailer Flipkart.com for 19,999 INR (US $368), no strings attached.

XOLO X1000 features a 4.7-inch curved-glass screen boasting of 1280 x 720-pixel resolution (312 ppi), not the 1080p panel that was hyped up. Like its predecessor (the X900), it is driven by an Intel platform, consisting of an Atom Z2480 single-core SoC with HyperThreading, clocked at 2.00 GHz, PowerVR SGX540 graphics clocked at 400 MHz, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of storage that's expandable to 32 GB with micro-SDHC, an 8-megapixel primary camera, and 3.5G HSPA+ (up to 21.1 Mbps). XOLO chose the dated Android 4.0.4 "Ice Cream Sandwich" over either of the newer flavors of Jelly Bean.
