Cheap Huawei Ascend G510 with Android Jelly Bean announced by Vodafone UK

Vodafone UK is launching a new and affordable Android smartphone manufactured by Huawei. Called Huawei Ascend G510, the handset is the first in the UK to come with Huawei’s own Emotion UI – which sits atop of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Since it’s affordable, the G510 is not a high-end device. Its features include: a 4.5 inch IPS display with 854 x 480 pixels, HSDPA, NFC, Wi-Fi, DTS surround sound, 5MP rear camera with LED flash, VGA front-facing camera, dual-core 1.2GHz processor (apparently a MediaTek MTK 6577), 512 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory. There is also a MicroSD card slot (up to 32GB) – in case the internal memory doesn’t satisfy you. The smartphone measures 134 x 64.7 x 9.9 mm, and comes with a 1,700 mAh battery.

The Ascend G510 should be available at Vodafone UK starting tomorrow, April 12. It’s going to cost £130 on Pay As You Go, but customers can also get it for free on contract, on plans starting at £13 per month. We don’t know if Vodafone will offer the G510 in other color versions than the black one seen above. In any case, I assume the British network will sell lots of these – just like it did with the 4 inch Huawei Ascend G300 launched last year.
