Gigabyte officially launches compact Brix systems


Gigabyte's Brix platform first showed up mid-April. The compact systems have dimensions of 30 x 108 x 114 millimetres and are developed to compete with Intel's Next Unit of Computing (NUC) platform.

Gigabyte's website reveals that three versions will initially be available, based on the Intel Core i3-3227U, i5-3337U and i6-3537U. In the near future, a version with the Celeron 1037U processor will also be released.

Two SO-DIMM memory modules can be placed in the system, as well as an mSATA SSD. The Brix offers Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, HDMI, Mini-DisplayPort and a VESA bracket. a WiFi expansion card is slotted in the mini-PCI-Express expansion slot.
