Vodafone Smart Mini — super low-spec £50 Android phone

Vodafone has launched a new and ultra-cheap, own-branded smarthpone in the UK: the Smart Mini. This comes not long after the network released the Smart III, which is also pretty cheap (£95).

The Vodafone Smart Mini costs only £50 (€58, or $78) on Pay As You Go. It runs Android Jelly Bean (version 4.1 from what we can see), featuring a 3.5 inch display with 480 x 320 pixels, HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, single-core 1GHz MediaTek MT6575 processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 2MP rear camera. The handset measures 115 x 62.3 x 12.2 mm, and weighs 118 grams.

The Smart Mini should be available at Vodafone UK starting today, in two color versions: black and white. A pink edition will be released in the near future.

Vodafone doesn’t say which company is manufacturing the Smart Mini, but it’s probably one of these: ZTE, Huawei, or TCL (maker of Alcatel handsets).
