Amazon Preparing New Kindle Fire Tablets

While the last generation of Kindle tablets from Amazon came equipped with better displays (with the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 packing a beautiful 1920 x 1200 display), a new report details the next-generation of Kindle Fire tablets to come with powerful processors inside.

The new flagship Kindle Fire HD will allegedly pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC clocked at 2 GHz, Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, both front and rear cameras as well as the usual Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity options.

Amazon will be bumping the 7" Kindle Fire tablet resolution up to an impressive 1920 x 1200, which will go head-to-head with Google's new Nexus 7 (2013). Meanwhile, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 will come equipped with a 8.9" 2560 x 1600 display, making it the first to do so in its size segment. The high-end tablet from Amazon is also expected to pack an 8 MP camera (the 7" model won't be bearing a camera). Additionally, the budget 7" tablet will sport 8 GB of internal storage while all other models of the new Kindle Fire tablets will be offered in 16/32/64 GB flavors.

All of the new Kindle tablets are said to be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with the usual heavily customized interface from Amazon. While there's no word on pricing, the expected release timeframe of the new tablets is this fall.
