Sony Announces Global PlayStation 4 Launch Dates, Games

With the dust over Xbox One launch dates and places settled, and the console confirmed to launch in just 13 countries worldwide this year. The ball is now in Sony's court, which just announced launch dates and markets for its PlayStation 4 next-generation game console.

  • November 15, 2013: North America - United States and Canada
  • November 29, 2013: Europe - Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom
  • November 29, 2013: Oceania - Australia, New Zealand
  • November 29, 2013: Latin America - Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama and Peru
Straightaway we can see that Sony covered more countries than Microsoft, 31 vs. 13, including markets in Europe and Latin America that it skipped for 2014, and given that it skipped Asian and Middle-Eastern markets, including its home market of Japan, it's clear that Sony is gunning for Christmas sales.

As of November 15, here's a list of AAA games you'll be able to play on a PlayStation 4:
