HTC One Max info leaks in China: $800 price tag, October launch

A new set of leaked photos that sow the unannounced HTC One Max are confirming the device’s model number: this is HTC 8088 (at least for the unit seen in these pictures). Since the HTC One’s mode number is 801 – with different variations like 801C, 801N or 801S – 8088 makes perfect sense for the Max to have.

The new photos also confirm – again – that there’s a fingerprint sensor on the back of the One Max, just below the rear camera (which should be a 4MP UltraPixel unit). What’s more, there’s an image that shows one of the device’s sides, where the volume and power buttons seem to be located.

Until recently, we told you that the One Max would come with a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. However, EVleaks reports that the processor will be an older Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 (1.7GHz, quad-core). If that’s true, HTC is probably doing this to keep the price of the One Max as low as possible. Maybe the company wants to offer the new device as a more affordable alternative to the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra? We’ll see what happens.

What we can say at the moment, almost with confidence, is that the One Max will offer a 5.9 inch Full HD display, 2GB of RAM, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. HTC could announce the device next month, in October.
