Scythe Unveils Kotetsu Tower-Type CPU Cooler

Scythe announced a new mid-range tower-type CPU cooler in its home market of Japan, named Kotetsu, and bearing the model number SCKTT-1000

Its design involves a mirror-finished nickel-plated copper base, from which four 8 mm-thick copper heat pipes emerge, passing through a dense aluminium fin stack with patterns of differently-aligned fins, to increase turbulence, and with it, heat dissipation. The fin-stack is neatly topped off by a plastic plate.

Measuring 130 x 58 x 160 mm (WxDxH), the heatsink weighs about 480 g. It's ventilated by a Falcon 120 (120 mm) PWM-controlled fan, which spins between 400 and 1,400 RPM, pushing up to 79 CFM of air, with a maximum noise output of 28 dBA. Kotetsu supports all modern CPU socket types, including LGA2011, LGA115x, LGA775, AM3+/AM3, and FM2+/FM2/FM1. It's priced at 3,480 JPY (US $35).
